Perhaps by acquiring more badges one could activate more personal features. I'm sure there's a number of neat weird features out there that could be added, and set up so that only members with badges could use them. I don't know what any of these would be, but it'd be something to look into I suppose.

However, just seeing people with badges, and then seeing that you don't have any, may just end up being all the incentive you need. I know I want one, seeing as I don't have one. It's a cool idea though, I've seen it done before, but in a more of a "gift" sense. You could buy gifts, like flowers and presents and badges and send them to people for whatever reason. Not exactly the same, but similar.

I'm not too enthusiastic about Badges, as it will create envy amongst the members. My suggestion is that for every post you make, you get 10 forum currency and can buy something for it, like Badges, for instance. 500 forum currencies for the Golden Badge, meaning you have to post 50 posts before, and I think that's much enough, seeing as this forum isn't that active. I think donations shouldn't give you a special sparkling thing, but maybe a Hall of Fame of Donators. That's right, no special rank for donation, but a Hall of Fame list that shows all the donators.

Well the bottom line is that the more money we have, the better the site can be. We're not going to be adding special powers to the badges; they're just a "kul" little extra that you get for contributing to the site. Ganon, you've got every power you can possibly have, just be freakin satisfied with that. If you were being more magnanimous and referring to how everyone else should have more powers, well I'm sure they thank you for your concern, but there is a reason that "powers" aren't just given out to everyone - they don't need them. We need to get rid of this impression that you can buy responsibility "power" in the community by doing stuff. Just be happy with a cool little recognition of your contribution!

@Ly, the point is to arouse envy among the members, or rather, competition. If you see someone else with a sparkly badge, you of course will want one, thus hopefully encouraging you to donate to the site or to invite a few people. I take it you have already forgotten, but we had a store like you mentioned once. We lost it with an upgrade, and still have not been able to reinstall it.

Oh, and another thing @ Ganon, about the ghosting. To be frank, I never liked that feature of the store, and I always fought to have it as minimized as possible. Ghosting is a serious punishment (despite what Lyhalu might have you think), and no one should have to deal with it on the whim of some punk joking around. That is unfair to upstanding members who just don't feel like being messed with, and it also lightens the meaning of the rank.

I think the bottom line here is the badge system is just a neat little idea we (mainly EP) had to reward people for helping out the site. Just be happy with what it is, and stop being so power-thirsty all the time! :P

Ganon, would you like to not be able to post something really special, but can't, and have to post it on the Chat Thread where no one will notice it? Even for a day? I doubt so.

Would you like to not be able to correct your typoes on your posts so that no one would realize that you didn't type wrong because of having a lack of English vocabulary? I don't hink so.

On the other hand Ganon, one could make so that one's name was black and got "shadow" Chozo Ghost rank, with no real disabled ability, but that's not worth $50. Maybe $5. And of course, the one who recieved it should get an option to remove the "shadow" Chozo Ghost rank when they're tired of being seemingly ghosted. But that would in some way be abused, so I don't think even my modification of your idea would be tested.

Is there a "Good-Looking" Badge? Because, you know, without me... this forum wouldn't have the necessary pretty person.

(I donated 7 bucks and recruited LBoogie :()

Now, first you must give us a picture before telling us that you're good-looking ;)
And due to the fact that not many people reveal a picture of themselves here, we can't truly confirm that you are the most good-looking forumer here. Well, I do have some pictures of myself on Photobucket, but they're in Ninja style, so they don't count.

Hmm... i see you've added three new badges last night. Since you said you'd give us badges for past donations and recruitments, can we also get those other badges for past contributions. I mean, if I were to dig through the boards and find a couple of good, well thought out, lengthly and thorough posts that i had done in the past, could i PM them to you as nominations for a mushroom badge?

Just because some one is going to say it eventually: "Badges?! Badges?! We don't need no stinking badges!" Just kidding. I love the idea.

No Morgil, we're not going to go back and retroactively give out badges for good posts. That kind of defeats the purpose, because pretty much everyone has made at least one or two great posts, and if everyone had the badges, there'd be no incentive. Plus, people post all the time, so it shouldn't be too long before somebody earns one. It's different with donations because hardly anyone ever donates, so seeing people with the badges might encourage them to.

@Ly, I really don't see why you are complaining about the pains of being ghosted, seeing as you requested it. Or have you forgotten?
