So who here collects? I know I'm not the only one.

I think that toy collecting is the sort of nerdy hobby that people still feel embarrassed about. You might be twenty-five, watching cartoon network while playing final fantasy and eating captain crunch, and this is celebrated. But if we're caught playing with non-digital children's play things we are suddenly shamed.

Well time to man up.

For my birthday I got $40, and some of that is going to a Figma Luka. She's gotta show up any day now, and I have been walking up the walls waiting because she's one of those characters I always wanted as a fully articulated figure. I actually cleaned my room today, and that involved rearranging a toy shelf to make room for her. I have Hentai Woody and Guitar Halo both waiting for a lead singer to take center stage, and if she doesn't show up tomorrow I dunno what I'm gonna do to distract myself.

Any great buys lately? Or treasures you wanna brag about? *coughKojima-signed-MGS-Peacewalker-Figurecough*

Oh, also, I know there doesn't seem to be any metroid toys, but there is a nice Samus model kit that seems to have some gundam-esque articulation. Anybody look into that?

I used to buy a bunch of action figures, but not really so much anymore. I think it's just that i have better things to spend my money on. I do still have all the old stuff i bought still lining up my shelves. Most of the stuff is just typical stuff you can find in many stores' toy departments, but i also have a few special collectibles from specialty stores and online.

Let's see, I got a crap ton of DBZ figures, a few LotR figures, a couple of Sonic the Hedgehog figures, one Final Fantasy figure (Kefka), two Star Wars figures, one (autographed) figure of Kevin Smith, a Mario bobble head, some Zelda figures. Oh, and i almost forgot plushies! I got some Mario and Pokemon plushies, and one Sonic one. Additionally, i still have these old green and yellow yoshi plushies that i got back when i was ten, back in the SNES era. Those were my absolute favorite when i was a kid. It was kinda a Calvin & Hobbes thing where i thought they were alive. :)

I like to take the Seth Green approach to action figures, too. I don't really give a crap about how much the shit's worth. Only two figures are still in the original packaging; one cuz it's autographed, and one cuz there's a printing error on the box. The rest of the figures i like to put them in some fun pose on my shelves. For example, two DBZ figures are posed together like they're fighting each other, or Link holding his sword up triumphantly.

It's funny, today when i was at toys'r'us for the pokemon download, i was looking at the action figures there. They had some sweet ones that i was tempted to buy. They had Robot Chicken and Venture Bros. figures (I almost bought one on the Monarch), some retro figures of TMNT and Ghostbusters, both of which i was big into when i was 4 to 9. They also had some horror movie figures of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhes, and some more Mario, Sonic and Pokemon stuff. There were some things i came really close to buying, but i just didn't have the coin. Plus it seems those things are a lot more expensive now then they were 7 years ago.

At Toys'R'Us I saw two amazing Bioshock figures. One, being a Toys'R'Us exclusive Elite Bouncer, which sort of makes me laugh just to see the sticker on this m-rated game toy. But the other is a special version of the player character from Bioshock 2. It comes with more alternate weapons, a little sister, and on the back a life-size rabbit masquerade mask painted to have water damage and blood.

Not many are aware Toys'R'Us has adult toys.

Also, someone on 4chan showed me this. It made me laugh.

I feel stupid right now because I'm currently on eBay looking at doll house accessories in scale with my toys so my Gundam can be on the violin as Master Chief and Link help clean out the fridge with little coke bottles.

Every birthday I get some money and it is wasted in the most random ways possible.

Also, I know Morgil and I are not the only ones that like toys, because Conker was sharing with me his desire to buy some lego Halos and the likes. I honestly feel that Megablocks has got their act together. The quality of their Halo line is much improved over the last time I got a set as a gift by accident.

The wall of my closet at home is filled with class Spawn figures MOC, I also have some McFarlene Wetworks and Youngblood. Then the wall above my bed was covered with Batman and the old Star Wars MOC. :P Only toys I've bought recently are probably Nintendo related ones. Gundams are always awesome, though - that Samus sounds cool. do you have a link for it?

This is it, I'm pretty sure. People will say "Oh, well, it's not an action figure, it's a model kit," but it's the kind of model kit like a Zoid or a Gundam where it's jointed and a play thing, so I don't care.

Apparently, Samus is so popular but rare as a character that people even sell paint kits for this specific model to recreate alternate armor pallets, such as the blue one from Super Metroid/Metroid Prime. I once even saw a kit that was for the same colors, but the style of the paint was shinier and just considered by some "better enough to buy" just to bring out the detail all the more.

The plastic reminds me of those Megaman toys I've seen. They're model kits too, I believe, but once you snap them all together, it may as well be an action figure with some of the best articulation I've seen in a Megaman product.

Which ones? Dimension Diver apparently makes Megaman model kits too - those things are pretty expensive tho o.O Cool looking, though.

I used to get these Megaman models http://www.toysnjoys...nbusterblue.jpg My dad used to sell them and one day my cousin who was little at the time put a piece of Rush's ear in his nose and had to go to the hospital because it got stuck, lol.

I really don't have too many toys. I had a lot in a toy drawer before I moved in 2001, but I got rid of all but a few of them. I would like some nintendo shit but I don't really hunt down any or try to collect them.

My motivational plushies. This is next to my computer desk, and none of them are a distraction at all.

I like to brag about my Grifball figure, but my one complaint is that his arm does not extend straight out to make that Grifball pose, so I feel slightly disappointed every time I try to pose him.

I don't see enough background consideration in a lot of toy displays. Or is it just me?

I am deeply ashamed how long it's taking me to complete my Big Daddy doll, there, but the head looks nice, I think, next to Eleanor.

So yeah, that's Kojima's signature, and this is most likely the most valuable toy I own. Probably the only one I have still in his box, too. Although I really have been super tempted to rectify that.

I also fucking hate my camera. My good one was taken away because it was actually borrowed, and they just don't make affordable cameras that work as well as it did. To get a clear shot, I need my own lighting arrangement, a tripod, and to experiment with all the focus settings. Versus the single click that did it on my previous model. Argh.
