At last, Capcom has made reference to the existence of Resident Evil 7!
Dengeki Playstation's 600th issue included a Q&A with a few game industry dudes, and among them was Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata.
Details are sparse, but when asked, "And what about Resident Evil 7?"
>>Kawata replied, "We’re currently not at a state to talk about it… but please stay tuned."
Prior to that question, he was asked why RE isn't scary worth a shit anymore: "They say that the Resident Evil series is losing its horror touch. What are your thoughts on this?"
>>Kawata replied,"Since there’s been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I’m thinking about it and also preparing for it."
Sure, let's blame it on all the spinoffs, homeboy... spinoffs like Resident Evil 4, onward.
Well, here's to hoping that we'll see a return to survival horror in Resident Evil 7. I'm honestly down with the action-oriented RE games as long as they push the story with my beloved characters further along, but it'd be nice to see a slower-paced, survival-horror-based Resident Evil again.
