So yeah a controversy has brewed since the IW reveal trailer.
Seems the CoD community is rebelling due to IW being another futuristic shooter with advance movement systems instead of being a past/modern shooter with boots on the ground. Also not helping is tying CoD 4 Remastered to certain bundles of IW.
I'd like to a note some irony here though. Back before CoD 4 was originally a thing, Activision didn't think a modern shooter would sell and had Treyarch make World at War, a WWII shooter incase CoD 4 bombed. Instead CoD 4 was a massive success and World at War was hated for being just another World War II shooter in an oversatured World War II shooter market (WaW would be later vindicated thanks to Blops and Zombies).
It's looking like Infinity Ward's Infinite Warfare will be the "World at War" of futuristic shooters as Activision probably has Sledgehammer and Treyarch making a past/modern shooter for CoD 2017 and CoD 2018 respectively.
