And it just keeps getting crazier. T-Mobile customers will now be getting a one-year data-usage exemption for Pokémon Go. They will also be giving up to $15 of Lyft credit for PokéStop and Gym trips, a free Wendy's Frosty, and 50% off mobile accessories like portable power packs. As part of a special event, 250 people will receive $100 in PokéCoins and 5 people will win 2-person trips to anywhere in the US.

This has gotten inconceivably insane.

While i guess the $100 pokecoins and trip contest seem nice, but i question the unlimited data. I don't know about anyone else, but anytime i play the game, it seems to barely use much data at all. I have a 6GB/month plan, and most of that gets spent watching youtube videos. Pokemon go seems to not use much more then a couple of MG on my phone a day. I guess for some people with much smaller data plans that might be useful, but for me, suddenly having unlimited use of this app wouldn't really affect me at all.

It uses the same amount of data as Google Maps, as the majority of the data it's download is Google's map data. If you use the app heavily and move across large areas (thus constantly downloading maps) it does stack up in the long run. ~20mb per hour. No where near enough to eat up a whole plan on its own, but also not an insignificant number either.

I like the half-assed-ness of the Wendy's Frosty, which was clearly just thrown in there because Wendy's was scrambling to get on board.

"Here, have $100 worth of this stuff, and all this free data, and a big discount on battery packs ... oh, and um, we found this Frosty in the parking lot, you can have that, too."
