Sony's 4k PlayStation 4 upgrade has been something of an open secret since before E3, but today the company officially unveiled its high end game console. It's called PlayStation 4 Pro -- and it'll be available on November 10th for $399. It boasts an upgraded CPU with a higher clock rate and a 1TB HDD. And, of course, it's designed specifically for UHD TVs and PlayStation VR.

As the event wrapped up, House returned to reveal the new PlayStation line up: a slimmer PS4 for a cool $299, or a thicker, more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro for $399. That slimmer PS4 will hit stores next week -- but folks with 4K televisions at home will have to wait until November 10th for the Pro. Still, that's a lot sooner than Microsoft's Project Scorpio is set to debut. And no, Microsoft, the Xbox One S isn't the same thing.

> I want Playstation 4 Pro

> I don't want to pay $400
> I don't want to transfar all my PS4 shit to PS4 Pro (assuming that's an "easy" process... and surely gonna lose my fuckin' PT...)

> I don't want a non-white PS4 Pro

> I don't like how it now looks like a fucking Big Mac

> Fuck

Incredibly, the PS4 Pro doesn't support 4K Blu-ray discs.

@ Plant: Supposedly PT should transfer over fine.

Disc-based movies are considered a bit more niche now-a-days (though honestly while the numbers are down across they board, they're still far from actually being truly niche...) so it was probably seen as an acceptable cost-cutting measure, what with 4K streaming being available (which is bullshit, 4K streaming is kind of worthless right now).

Meanwhile Microsoft has 4K Blu-ray on both the Xbox One S and upcoming Scorpio... Sony's definitely cutting corners on both of their new consoles. ARROGANT SONY 2.0 :\

I think they're holding off so they have something new to add for the inevitable PS4 Neo-Geo next year. Also, 4K disc drives will be cheaper by then.

This is a little old now [by Internet standards], but Sony has revealed all of the upcoming PS4 annual incremental improvement systems leading up to the PS5 (if such a thing will ever come to be).
