In an interview with Famitsu, it seems like Sakurai might not be hands-on with directing game development in the future (unless there's an offer that's too good to pass up) as he wants to transition into being a consultant on game development.
Source Gaming is in the process of translating the interview:
…Well for me, every time I always think, “This might be the last one.” If it’s a request from a client then I’ll consider it, but I do wonder, “Is it alright if I’m not the director?” It might be good to take on more of a consulting role.
This interview might not be talking about Smash games specifically as it sounds like this could relate to anything he might consult on or could have a hand in the future. So what do you think? Depending on whatever game it is, do you prefer Sakurai being hands-on as director? Or should he become a game development consultant?
